RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has announced that, on average, about 2,000 Afghanistani refugees are forcibly expelled from Iran and Pakistan and return to Afghanistan each day. In a statement issued on Saturday, June 8, the ministry reported that over the past two days, more than 1,640 refugees have been expelled from these two countries.
According to the statement, Iran expelled over 1,000 refugees on Friday, June 7. The day before, 640 refugees were deported from Pakistan back to Afghanistan. Based on the ministry’s information, 800 Afghanistani refugees entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, and over 200 others through Spin Boldak in Kandahar. The Taliban stated that in the past two weeks, at least 14,000 refugees, including women and children, have been forcibly expelled from Iran and Pakistan.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations added that a significant number of returning refugees have received assistance from international organizations. It is noteworthy that after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, many citizens fled to neighboring countries due to economic and security challenges.
Recently, a coalition of aid organizations along the Durand Line announced that from September 15 of last year to March 18 of this year, approximately 590,000 Afghanistani refugees have returned to their country. On Wednesday, June 8, this coalition issued a statement indicating that over 376,000 refugees returned through the Torkham crossing and more than 196,000 through Spin Boldak in Kandahar.
