RASC News Agency:Fawzia Koofi, a former member of Afghanistan’s House of Representatives and the leader of the Movement for Change Party, has won the “Asian Women’s Achievement” award for 2024. The award was presented to her on Thursday, June 6, in London, UK.

Upon receiving the award, Koofi stated, “In the 21st century, women in my country are deprived of every right—education, work, and freedom. Afghanistan has turned into an open prison for women. This is not normal and should not be accepted as such.”

Koofi added, “As my sisters in Afghanistan continue to resist the current situation, we must stand in support of them and amplify their voices for change.” The award was also given to several other Asian women in the fields of arts and culture, social services, technology, media, sports, entrepreneurship, and science.

The “Asian Women’s Achievement” award was established in 1999 by Nusrat Mahboob Lilani, known as “Pinky Lilani,” an Indian-British author and women’s rights advocate. It is presented annually to women from Asia in various categories to honor their contributions.

In 2022, Humaira Rezai, an Afghanistani refugee residing in the UK, won this award in the social and humanitarian category.
