40-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide in Parwan Province

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Parwan province report that a 40-year-old man has committed suicide. Sources informed the media on Tuesday, June 4, that the incident occurred in the market area of Sheikh Ali district in Ghorband Valley, Parwan province.

According to these sources, the man’s name was Miagul, and his suicide was attributed to mental illness exacerbated by economic difficulties.

Miagul is survived by four children. Reports indicate that since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the suicide rate among citizens has increased. In the past two years alone, at least three people, including a young girl, have committed suicide in Sheikh Ali district, Parwan.

Factors contributing to these suicides include poverty, unemployment, mental health issues, lack of access to psychological treatment, and the restrictive measures imposed by the Taliban over nearly three years.

Human rights organizations accuse the Taliban of extensively violating the basic rights of citizens, particularly women and girls, during their nearly three years of rule.
