RASC News Agency: Local sources from Takhar province report that residents of Khuramab village in Farkhar district have engaged in physical confrontations with the Gujjars. On Wednesday, May 15th, sources informed the media that this altercation occurred yesterday afternoon over grazing land between the residents of Khuramab and the newly arrived Gujjars.
According to these sources, Sayed Abdulwali Arshad, the Taliban’s security commander in Farkhar district, intervened in support of the Gujjars and detained two local residents. Sources added that the Gujjars are armed and are receiving support from the Taliban. Despite complaints from Khuramab villagers to the Taliban’s district governor in Farkhar, no action was taken, and the villagers were instead threatened.
The Taliban official has instructed the residents not to obstruct the Gujjars’ access to the grazing lands. Nearly two months ago, armed Gujjars invaded local grazing lands in Farkhar district, assaulting at least 15 residents.
Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, disputes over grazing lands between the Gujjars and local residents in Farkhar have intensified. The Gujjars claim ownership of these areas, asserting that the locals seized the lands from them years ago.
