RASC News Agency: Local sources among media protesters report that the Taliban, once again, disrupted their peaceful demonstrations and opened fire, resulting in eight casualties, including fatalities and injuries. Today, Monday, May 13th, sources informed RASC News Agency that fresh members of the Taliban, under the pretext of destroying poppy fields, launched an assault aimed at annihilating their farms.
According to the source, residents of the “Berlas” village resisted against the Taliban’s destruction of their farms and engaged in verbal confrontations, prompting the Taliban to fire at the protesters, killing three and injuring five others. Following the loss of three lives and the injury of five others in the Taliban’s gunfire, residents have taken to the streets in protest, demanding the arrest of the assailants responsible for the deaths of three locals.
Video footage circulating on social media depicts the Taliban directly firing upon civilians. In another released video, demonstrators can be seen transporting wounded individuals to the hospital, indicating the dire situation in the area. Sources from the Berlas village stated that our protests are ongoing, and will continue until the perpetrators are apprehended.
Local Taliban officials have yet to comment on the incident, a rarity for the group to remain silent. Previously, the Taliban in the “Gandah Cheshmah” village of Argo district, and similarly in Dara-e-Im district, fired upon residents protesting the destruction of their farms.
