RASC News Agency: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that recent floods have destroyed nearly 10,000 hectares of agricultural land throughout Afghanistan. According to a report released by OCHA on Monday night, May 6, the affected agricultural lands are located in the eastern and southeastern regions of the country.
The UN humanitarian aid coordinator noted that the April rainfall this year was the highest in the past 40 years. In recent days, several provinces across the country have experienced heavy rainfall and flooding, resulting in loss of life and significant property damage.
In some instances, the recent natural disasters in the provinces of Uruzgan, Herat, and Helmand have claimed at least 10 lives and damaged major and minor roads. The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation reported that floods in Ghor province have displaced 1,073 families, forcing them to live outdoors.
