RASC News Agency: Local sources from Takhar province state that two former officials from the National Directorate of Security and a civilian were recently arrested by Taliban members in the province. Sources informed the media on Monday, May 6, that the Taliban arrested Mohammad Usman, the security director of Bangi district, and Syed Samiullah, an employee of the National Directorate of Security under the previous government in Takhar, seven days ago.
According to sources, the two former security officials were arrested from their homes in Takhar province last Tuesday and taken to an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, a credible source in Farhar district of Takhar province reported that a civilian was arrested on Sunday afternoon, May 5, by members of the Taliban. The civilian, identified as Mohammad Jan, was taken to Taloqan, the capital of Takhar province, by the Taliban.
Throughout nearly three years of Taliban rule in the country, despite their leader’s declaration of a general amnesty, the group has arrested, tortured, imprisoned, and even killed former military personnel. Moreover, in addition to targeting former military personnel, the group has also detained non-Pashtun civilians on various pretexts in several provinces.
In one instance, the Taliban recently arrested a schoolteacher in the capital of Panjshir province, though the reason for the teacher’s arrest remains unclear.
