RASC News Agency: Local sources from Nangarhar province have reported that the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has announced a ban on displaying live animal images in banners at shops and commercial centers within the province. Sources informed the media on Monday, Apr 8, that the Taliban’s moral policing authorities have been implementing this measure for several days now.
According to the sources, printed images on banners at shops in Jalalabad city and districts of this province have been erased by Taliban members, who have issued warnings to the owners of commercial centers to refrain from displaying images on banners. Some merchants, reacting to this new restriction imposed by the Taliban, argue that it has negatively impacted their businesses. Local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have yet to comment on this matter.
Previously, the Taliban had cautioned citizens in several provinces to refrain from displaying images on banners and from using what the group deems “foreign” words in their advertisements. In a recent move a few days ago, local Taliban authorities in Kandahar province declared that photography of their ceremonies is prohibited. However, despite this, reports indicate that the group consistently publishes images of their gatherings.
