Warning of Possible ISIS Attack on Ferdowsi Library in Balkh Province

RASC News Agency:Local Taliban officials in Balkh province convened with provincial media representatives to discuss the potential threat of an ISIS assault on Ferdowsi Library in Mazar-i-Sharif city. During a meeting held on Saturday, the Apr 6, Matin Ilham, the media liaison of the Taliban’s intelligence division in Balkh province, revealed intelligence suggesting that ISIS is actively plotting an attack on Ferdowsi Library.

 

At the same gathering, Ata Mohammad Sahu, the information officer of the Taliban’s intelligence and cultural department in Balkh, called upon journalists in the province to abstain from participating in programs affiliated with the library. Ferdowsi Library, situated in Mazar-i-Sharif city, enjoys support from Iran and serves as a hub for cultural events.

 

Despite recent expressions of concern from various regional and global entities regarding ISIS’s presence in Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, asserted in his latest statement that they have effectively suppressed ISIS within the country.
