RASC News Agency: Reporters Without Borders has recently issued a warning that Taliban-imposed restrictions on media activities, resulting in censorship and self-censorship among journalists, will further devastate Afghanistan’s media landscape. In an unexpected statement released by the organization on Wednesday, Mar 13, it was revealed that Taliban restrictions on Afghanistan’s media have escalated over the past month.

The organization noted that the suppression of Afghanistan’s media has intensified due to the issuance of directives, with a particular emphasis on restricting women by the Taliban. This organization calls on Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, to cease oppressive actions against the media. According to a published statement, Taliban restrictions on the media in February have heightened, particularly in the provinces of Khost and Kandahar, and are expected to expand to other provinces of the country.

Reporters Without Borders deems the limitations on women’s access to media, as journalists and listeners, and the ban on filming in Kandahar concerning. Reporters Without Borders has also expressed concerns about the prohibition of women contacting radio programs in Khost province.

Meanwhile, following their seizure of control in the country, the Taliban have imposed numerous restrictions on media and journalists, resulting in the detention and torture of dozens of journalists in various provinces of the country under various pretexts.
