RASC News Agency: Local Taliban officials have announced the reopening of the Salang Pass to traffic. Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Benefits, stated in a social media post that the pass was reopened for traffic on Thursday, Mar 14.
According to this Taliban authority, the Salang Pass had been blocked to traffic from both sides due to heavy snowfall and severe storms for two consecutive nights. Information indicates that currently, the Salang Pass is open only for traffic from the south to the north, with expectations for it to become bidirectional in the coming hours.
Taliban officials have urged drivers and travelers to carry necessary supplies when traveling on this route. Meanwhile, the Salang Pass is considered one of the country’s key passages connecting northern provinces to the capital and is occasionally blocked to traffic due to heavy snowfall and severe storms during the winter months.
It is worth noting that in recent days, several provinces of the country have experienced heavy snow and rainfall, resulting in fatalities and loss of livestock in some cases.
