RASC News Agency: Local sources from Baghlan province report that the Taliban, continuing their arbitrary detentions of citizens, recently apprehended a resident of this province in Kabul city. Sources informed the media on Thursday, Mar 7, that members of the Taliban detained this individual, known as “Shahenshah,” on Tuesday of this week from Kabul city.
According to sources, Shahenshah hails from the village of Ronu in the Banoyi Andarab district of Baghlan province and had recently returned to the country from Iran. Although the Taliban stated that Shahenshah was detained for collaborating with the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, sources claimed that he had no affiliation with any group and was engaged in “personal affairs” in Kabul city.
Sources indicate that the Taliban detained this young man because he is Tajik and from Andarab. Statistics provided by local residents indicate that since the Taliban regained control, at least 400 residents of Andarab in Balkh province have been detained by this group on charges of collaborating with the National Resistance Front. According to sources, most of the individuals detained by the Taliban are former government officials and have no connection with anti-Taliban military factions.
This news comes as the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) recently reported that the Taliban continue their killings, detentions, arbitrary arrests, torture, and mistreatment of former government officials and military personnel.
