UNAMA Urges Taliban to Revoke the Death Penalty

RASC News Agency: After the Taliban executed two individuals in Ghazni province, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) strongly condemned the executions. UNAMA announced on Thursday, Feb 22, via its social media platform, X, that the death penalty contradicts the fundamental right to life of individuals, emphasizing that the Taliban should halt this process immediately.

This incident occurred as the Taliban carried out the public execution of two individuals accused of murder in Ghazni province today, instructing witnesses not to capture the event through photography or filming. It is noteworthy that witnesses at the execution scene reported to the media that the Taliban shot both individuals and fired more than eight rounds at each of them.

Additionally, it is important to mention that the Taliban publicly executed an individual in Farah province last year, triggering widespread reactions both nationally and internationally.
