RASC News Agency: On the eve of the second gathering of representatives from various countries concerning Afghanistan in Doha, the Afghanistan Free Media Support Institution (NAI) and the Fahim Dashti Foundation urged Guterres to prevent the Taliban from being acknowledged at this gathering. In a statement issued on Saturday, Feb 17, these two institutions conveyed their wish for Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to abstain from recognizing the Taliban, to hold them accountable, and to relocate them to mosques and schools.

NAI and the Dashti Foundation also stressed their call for Guterres to avoid even conditionally acknowledging this group at the Doha gathering. According to these two entities, the Doha session should also prioritize holding the Taliban accountable and restoring their leaders to mosques and schools. Expanding on their declaration, the Taliban’s closure of NAI’s Kabul office was highlighted as follows: “Under mounting pressure, the Taliban recently sealed the doors of this office, plunging the journalist community into despair. By shutting down the NAI organization’s premises, they rendered millions of dollars in investments futile.”

It is worth mentioning that the assembly of country delegates regarding Afghanistan under Taliban authority will convene in Doha on Monday and Tuesday, February 18th and 19th, with the Taliban opting out of participation.
