RASC News Agency: Quoting local sources, Khadem Hussein Ahmadi, the official of “Jaghori Radio” in Ghazni province, and Ehsan Akbari, a reporter for a Japanese media outlet in Kabul, have been apprehended by Taliban group intelligence forces. Sources from Ghazni province conveyed to the media on Sunday, January 21, that Taliban faction intelligence forces detained Mr. Ahmadi yesterday, January 20th, in Jaghori district of this province. Khadem Hussein Ahmadi serves as the official of “Jaghori Radio” in Ghazni province.
Simultaneously, local sources report that Ehsan Akbari, a correspondent for Kyodo News Agency of Japan, was also taken into custody by Taliban group forces last Thursday in Kabul. Sources indicate that Taliban faction intelligence forces initially summoned Akbari to their media center and subsequently detained him. According to reports, one day after Akbari’s arrest, the Taliban group conducted a raid on his office, confiscating his camera and laptop.
The precise reasons for the detention of these two journalists remain unclarified. This occurs at a time when, over the past week, the Taliban group detained two reporters from the “Gerdesh Informatics” news agency in Kabul, releasing them after a brief period of detention.
It is noteworthy that following their assumption of control over the country, the Taliban faction have implemented extensive restrictions on the activities of media and journalists. They have consistently detained, incarcerated, and subjected reporters to torture. In certain instances, they have also imposed censorship on media content.
