RASC News Agency: The latest report from the United States Special Inspector for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), referencing the U.S. Department of State, reveals that the nation dispatches cash packages totaling $80 million to Afghanistan, controlled by the Taliban, every 10 to 14 days. As per information disclosed by credible sources on Sunday, January 20, the U.S. Inspectorate, situated in Afghanistan, consistently affirms, citing the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), that these funds are securely held in a dedicated account at a private bank, ensuring they do not flow into the Taliban-controlled central bank.
While SIGAR brings attention to this matter, the Taliban, as of the July month in the current year, has ceased publicizing the receipt of $40 million packages, attributing this decision to the prevention of potential criticisms. The weekly delivery of $40 million packages to Afghanistan under Taliban control has encountered extensive criticism, with some experts highlighting the redirection of a substantial portion of these funds by the Taliban, deviating from the intended primary route of addressing humanitarian needs.
Contrary to these claims, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesperson, vehemently denies any oversight by the group over international aid. It is significant to note that Afghanistan’s central bank, now under Taliban control, declared on Monday, May 14th, the arrival of a $40 million humanitarian aid package in Kabul.
