RASC News Agency: Tom West, the U.S. Special Representative in Afghanistan Affairs, has recently divulged details of his meeting with Atsushi Sunami, the President of the Sasakawa Foundation (SPF) in Japan. In a statement shared on social media by Mr. West on January 9, the two parties engaged in discussions pertaining to Afghanistan during this encounter.
Continuing his message, Mr. West expressed gratitude for the Sasakawa Foundation’s endeavors in establishing sustainable peace in Afghanistan, stating, “I acknowledge Japan’s unwavering involvement in supporting the people of Afghanistan.” It is noteworthy that Japan is regarded as one of the financial supporters of Afghanistan, and despite the resurgence of the Taliban in the country, its aid has persisted across various sectors, encompassing education and healthcare for the Afghanistani people.
Meanwhile, according to a report from Japan’s Asahi Shimbun newspaper published earlier this month, Norio Owa, a retired engineer from the country, has arrived in Afghanistan to conclude the humanitarian projects initiated by Tetsu Nakamura. The report indicates that Norio is finalizing the unfinished projects of Tetsu Nakamura, also known as “Kaka Murad,” in Afghanistan. It’s worth mentioning that Tetsu Nakamura, a Japanese citizen, had been actively involved in humanitarian activities in Afghanistan for several years.
It is worth noting that unidentified armed individuals wounded Dr. Tetsu Nakamura with gunshots in December 2019 in the city of Jalalabad, Nangarhar province. He later succumbed to the injuries in the hospital. This occurs as Afghanistan has been embroiled in conflicts and terrorist attacks for several years, with individuals like Dr. Tetsu Nakamura falling victim alongside Afghanistani citizens.
