RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Taliban group recently announced the sale of emeralds extracted from the mines in Panjshir province. This marks the ninth occasion that the group has organized such a sale, following the looting of mines in the northern region of the country by the Taliban. In a newsletter released by the Ministry of the Taliban group on January 2nd, it was revealed that a total of 2,746 carats of emeralds were auctioned. The sale took place at a price of $80,000 and was exclusively offered to domestic merchants.
Nasrullah Malikzada, the head of information and culture for the Taliban group in Panjshir province, stated that the emeralds sold were freshly extracted from the mines in the province. The auction was conducted in the presence of several merchants, providing them with an opportunity to acquire these precious gemstones. It is worth mentioning that the Taliban group has previously been involved in the sale of emeralds extracted from the mines of Panjshir province to merchants. However, it is noteworthy that recently, the group sold a significant quantity of 2,118 carats of emeralds for a total of $123,400.
Following their control over the country, the Taliban group has shown a disproportionate interest in the mining sector, particularly in the northern regions. This action has been criticized by certain politicians who perceive it as the plundering of the nation’s mineral resources. They condemn the Taliban group for their involvement in such activities.
According to several experts, since the Taliban has not received recognition from any country worldwide, they have resorted to exploiting and selling the country’s mines as a means of generating income. It is believed that they aim to sustain their system through this method and even utilize the proceeds for their personal endeavors.
