RASC News Agency: In an ongoing series of retaliatory actions, sources in Kabul have confirmed the Taliban’s targeted killings of former government military personnel across diverse provinces of the country. These sources disclosed on Wednesday, December 27, that the Taliban recently executed a former government military member within the precincts of the Kabul security zone. According to these sources, the identified former government military member was Faqir Ahmad, originating from the Rokha district of Panjshir province. The sources further detailed that, subsequent to his assassination, the Taliban seized his vehicle.
It is salient to acknowledge that the assassination of former government military personnel by the Taliban in various provinces is not a novel development. The group has previously undertaken numerous instances of targeted violence against former government military personnel in different regions. Moreover, it merits mentioning that subsequent to their assumption of control over the country, the Taliban resorted to exceedingly violent and oppressive conduct towards non-Pashtun citizens, particularly those from Panjshir province. They subjected individuals to detention, imprisonment, torture, and, in some instances, fatalities.
According to information, the United Nations had previously issued a report asserting that despite the Taliban leader’s declaration of a general amnesty, the group persists in vengeful actions against former government military personnel across various provinces. It is crucial to highlight that, as per reports, following the Taliban’s takeover of the country, a substantial number of citizens, especially former government military personnel, civil activists, and collaborators with foreign institutions, chose to leave the country due to apprehensions of the group’s activities.
