RASC News Agency: Confirmation has been received from sources in Farah that a group of 13 female students from a girls’ school in the province fell victim to poisoning. These sources reported the incident to the media on Sunday, following its occurrence on Saturday, December 23rd. The affected students were enrolled in “Girls High School,” situated in the village of “Do Qala” within the Shib Koh district of Farah province. The students, ranging from the first to the sixth grades, were adversely affected by the poisoning, as indicated by the information provided by the sources.
It is imperative to underscore that the Taliban, a militant group active in the region, has not yet issued any statements regarding their potential involvement in this incident. However, it’s noteworthy that this is not the first time students from this particular school have been targeted. Just last week, on Thursday, December 21st, a similar incident of poisoning occurred. Additionally, earlier this year, in the spring, 70 students from a school in Sar-e-Pol province also fell victim to poisoning.
Many citizens of the country have expressed their condemnation toward the Taliban group, attributing responsibility for these poisoning incidents to them. They argue that the group is actively working against the education of girls. It is crucial to highlight that during their two-year rule in Afghanistan, the Taliban implemented more than 80 decrees specifically targeting women and girls. These decrees have not only restricted girls above the sixth grade from attending school but have also resulted in the closure of universities for female students.
