OCHA conveyed this message on Sunday, December 24th, through the X social media platform.
It is paramount to underscore that the European Union, in conjunction with nations worldwide, has previously extended substantial aid packages to the people of Afghanistan, underscoring their unwavering commitment to assisting those grappling with adversity. Despite the challenging circumstances prevailing in Afghanistan, with the Taliban in control and the nation contending with multifaceted humanitarian, economic, and political crises, the number of individuals requiring humanitarian aid continues to ascend.
Previously, OCHA underscored the urgent need for $3 billion in funding to address the pressing requirements of the Afghanistani populace under Taliban rule. Reports indicate a significant surge in the number of individuals necessitating humanitarian assistance since the Taliban assumed power, further exacerbating the preexisting crises in Afghanistan. The World Food Program has also emphasized the necessity for $400 million in funding to provide essential support to those in need in Afghanistan.
