RASC News Agency: The recent United Nations report detailing the prevailing conditions in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security has elicited a response from the Afghanistan Freedom Front, led by Mohammad Yasin Zia. According to this anti-Taliban faction, the UN Secretary-General’s proposition to appoint a special representative for Afghanistan’s peace affairs is deemed an “effective and judicious measure.” The front staunchly contends that engaging in dialogue and negotiations with the Taliban is unfeasible until prerequisites for complete disarmament and relinquishment of control are met. The front persists in its resistance against the Taliban, advocating for the transfer of power to an impartial entity and the conduct of unfettered and equitable elections.
In a missive directed to the Office of the UN Vice-Chancellor on December 21st, the Freedom Front voiced its endorsement of the UN Secretary-General’s report to the Security Council, characterizing it as a positive stride toward accurately portraying the existing realities in Afghanistan. The front implored the United Nations to enact tangible measures in response to the report, underscoring that the consolidation of the Taliban’s illegitimate rule poses a peril to peace and stability, not solely within Afghanistan but also in the broader regional and global context.
Spanning seven pages, the missive furnishes a thorough analysis of the Afghanistan situation from the perspective of the military front opposing the Taliban. It delves into diverse subjects such as political development, security, human rights, economic progress, humanitarian aid, and narcotics. In addition to delineating the challenges, the Front proffers proposals to the United Nations. Evidently, this letter constitutes a direct rejoinder to the report presented to the UN Security Council on November 8th, signed by Antonio Guterres, which centered on the Afghanistan situation under Taliban control.
Crucially, the Freedom Front has issued a missive expressing apprehensions about the current state of affairs in Afghanistan, cautioning that it is precipitating towards a scenario akin to the events in Rwanda. The letter underscores the pervasive violation of human rights and war crimes perpetrated by the Taliban. In light of these disconcerting developments, the Freedom Front urges the United Nations to take requisite measures to avert the complete collapse of Afghanistan.
