RASC News Agency: Authorities from the Taliban group in Takhar province have confirmed the killing of a young girl by her father. As per a press release from the Taliban’s command office in Takhar on Sunday, December 17, this incident unfolded last night in the village of “Tarsak Qandahar” in the Ishkamish district of the province. Mobin Safi, the spokesperson for the Taliban command in Takhar, identified the girl as “Bibi Norya” and disclosed that her father had “strangled” her, leading to her demise.
This Taliban official stated that the motive behind this act was rooted in familial issues, and the Taliban forces in Takhar province have apprehended the individual suspected of perpetrating this crime. This transpires at a time when, according to available information, violence against women has seen a significant upsurge following the Taliban’s assumption of power, with no institution actively addressing complaints and instances of violence against women.
According to recent reports, within the past three days, two women in Takhar province have fallen victim to deadly violence at the hands of close relatives. Notably, reports indicate that the Taliban have systematically violated the rights of women and girls since taking control of the country. It is imperative to underscore that Afghanistan, under the rule of the Taliban, is widely recognized as one of the most inhospitable countries for the life and progress of women globally, as the ruling faction has systematically stripped women of all their freedoms.
Reports indicate that women in various provinces have undertaken widespread protests against the Taliban’s blatant disregard for women and the persistent violations of their rights. Alarmingly, some of these protests have been met with suppression, leading to the detention of several women.
