RASC News Agency: Local authorities affiliated with the Taliban in Panjshir province have verified the distribution of chemical fertilizer to hundreds of farmers in the region by the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan. Qari Fazlullah Diobandi, heading the Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock department for the Taliban in Panjshir province, declared on Saturday, December 16th, that this assistance had been extended to farmers in the Bazarak area. According to Taliban officials in Panjshir province, each farmer has received a sack of white chemical fertilizer in this aid distribution initiative.
He highlighted that the provision of chemical fertilizer and enhanced seeds to these farmers is anticipated to stimulate agricultural growth in Panjshir. It is worth noting that the Taliban reported the distribution of these aids despite their extensive presence in Panjshir province over the last two years, hindering farmers’ unrestricted access to their lands. Reports from Panjshir province indicate that Taliban members in this region have subjected people to harassment and restrictions on their freedom, an allegation consistently denied by the group.
According to sources, following the Taliban’s assumption of power, they have exhibited hostile behavior towards non-Pashtun citizens, particularly those residing in Panjshir province, resulting in fatalities in numerous instances. Reports suggest that post the Taliban’s control of the country, the economy has significantly suffered due to limited job opportunities and stringent group-imposed restrictions, leading to a considerable surge in poverty and unemployment.
Presently, in most provinces across the country, agriculture remains the primary income source for people, facing various challenges such as persistent droughts. The Taliban has yet to implement any plans to address these issues.
