RASC News Agency: The inauguration of the pharmaceutical facility “Asia Noor” in the Kochkin Kotal Khair Khana area of Kabul province has been officially confirmed. This facility, which commenced operations on Wednesday, December 13th, was established at a cost of four million dollars. The management of “Asia Noor” underscored its primary mission to manufacture affordable, high-quality medicines. Expressing concerns about the prevalence of drug smuggling in the market, they called upon the Taliban group to take decisive actions to mitigate this issue. Currently, the factory produces approximately 68 different types of pharmaceuticals.

Ziauddin Mahir Wardak, the head of the “Asia Noor” facility, emphasized the critical importance of preventing drug smuggling into Afghanistan to stimulate investment in the country. Acknowledging the market challenges posed by smuggling, he advocated for intensified efforts to combat this issue, citing a belief in the inadequacy of the current capabilities of the department responsible for tackling smuggling. Officials from the factory revealed that a substantial portion of available drugs in the country are imported from neighboring nations like Iran, Pakistan, and India, leading to relatively high prices for consumers.

It is noteworthy that the healthcare sector in Afghanistan has encountered numerous challenges, particularly following the Taliban’s assumption of control over the country. Insufficient healthcare facilities in hospitals and health centers have presented significant hurdles for citizens, at times resulting in patient fatalities.

As a consequence, a substantial number of patients have been compelled to seek medical treatment in neighboring countries, notably Iran and Pakistan. The establishment of the “Asia Noor” pharmaceutical facility aims to address some of these challenges by domestically producing affordable, high-quality medicine.
