RASC News Agency: The meeting between Thomas West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, and Jalil Abbas Jilani, the Interim Foreign Minister of Pakistan, centered on the current situation in Afghanistan. In a statement released on Thursday, December 7th, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, both parties underscored the importance of collective approaches to promote and advance the well-being of the Afghanistani people. Jilani reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to addressing the challenges in Afghanistan, particularly those posed by the Taliban group.

While additional details about the meeting have not been disclosed, it is noteworthy that Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, also confirmed his meeting with West to discuss various issues related to Afghanistan. This meeting occurred as part of West’s 10-day trip to several countries, including Pakistan, where he aimed to engage with key partners of the United States and address political, security, economic, and humanitarian concerns in Afghanistan.

It is crucial to highlight that the forced deportation of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan has become a pressing issue. Despite repeated pleas from authorities to reconsider and halt this process, the Pakistani government has persistently expelled these refugees. This action has elicited widespread reactions and criticism from human rights organizations, contending that it contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, human compassion, and international norms. The situation remains a concern, and ongoing efforts are in place to address the plight of Afghanistani refugees in Pakistan.
