RASC News Agency: The US State Department has recently made an announcement regarding Afghanistani citizens residing in the US. Those who possess a green card and a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) for temporary residence in the US are now eligible to apply for their family members in Afghanistan. This initiative has been introduced with the aim of providing new opportunities and facilities for these individuals.

The US government has introduced a new “family reunification visa” facility for Afghanistani citizens for humanitarian reasons. As per the announcement made by the US State Department, if you are a US citizen, your spouse, children, and parents may be eligible for immediate immigration to the United States. Additionally, you can also apply for your sister, brother, and unmarried adult children, who may be able to immigrate after obtaining a visa.

The US Ministry has emphasized that individuals with a green card and those who entered the US through a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) can still apply to bring their family members to the country. Once the applications are reviewed, the US State Department will promptly contact the family members of Afghanistani citizens residing in the US to facilitate the application process for their immigrant visas, provided that the applications are approved.

Furthermore, the announcement highlights that individuals with permanent residence in the United States can apply for immigration on behalf of their spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21. The US State Department acknowledges that a significant number of Afghanistani citizens have left Afghanistan and sought refuge in neighboring countries, as well as in various ways to reach American and European countries, following the Taliban’s takeover of the country.
