RASC News Agency: According to media reports, officials from the United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation have engaged in discussions and exchanged views regarding their collective efforts in relation to Afghanistan, combating Islamophobia, and the desecration of the Holy Quran in several European countries.
It is said that Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, met with Ms. Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah prior to the International Women in Islam Conference and held discussions on Afghanistan.
Furthermore, during this meeting, the dangerous situation in the Gaza Strip and the consequences of Israel’s continuous attacks on the humanitarian conditions of the Palestinian people, as well as peace and security in the region and the world, were also among the topics discussed and exchanged between the two sides of the meeting.
According to the information provided, during this meeting, both parties also emphasized the importance of the International Women in Islam Conference, stating that it can be vital in identifying women’s rights and their position in societies on a global scale.
It is worth mentioning that the International Women in Islam Conference, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will take place in Jeddah from November 6th to 8th, 2023. The participants in this conference have expressed their appreciation for the existing cooperation between the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the United Nations and have discussed further strengthening and sustaining this collaboration.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan is currently under the control of the Taliban, facing immense humanitarian, economic, social, and political crises. Women in this country are deprived of their fundamental rights, experiencing high levels of unemployment and poverty within families, and there is a lack of an inclusive political system that encompasses all members of society.
