RASC News Agency: According to local sources in Panjshir, the Taliban has detained approximately ten individuals over the past week. These individuals, who belong to the province’s Abdullah Khil Valley in Dara district, are predominantly former government soldiers. It is important to note that the Taliban has accused them of collaborating with the National Resistance Front, despite the fact that no members of this front are present in the province.
Furthermore, reports from Panjshir indicate that the Taliban has also apprehended residents from other areas within the Dara district in recent days, but the exact number remains unknown. These sources affirm that the captured individuals were taken to an undisclosed location, leaving their fate uncertain. It is disconcerting to highlight that throughout their two-year reign, the Taliban has frequently detained former government soldiers on various pretexts, imprisoning them and, in numerous cases, even resorting to violence.
Adding to the concerns, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released a recent report on the country’s prisons, revealing that more than 17,000 individuals are currently held captive in Taliban-run facilities. The situation is particularly alarming when considering the multitude of reports detailing human rights abuses and maltreatment inflicted upon prisoners within these Taliban prisons.
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban has faced numerous offensives from various fronts since their ascension to power, resulting in casualties for the group. The ongoing situation in Afghanistan remains critical, underscoring the urgent need for the international community to diligently monitor developments and take necessary actions to safeguard the human rights of the Afghanistani people.
