RASC News Agency: Following the detention of Afghanistani refugees in Pakistan, local sources have reported the apprehension of five Afghanistani teachers in the country. On Tuesday, October 24, Pakistani authorities took custody of these teachers from an educational center catering to Afghanistani immigrants in Rawalpindi.

Reports suggest that the “Educational Center for Afghanistani Immigrants” was established by a group of education activists in Rawalpindi in response to the fall of Kabul and the subsequent influx of people into Pakistan. This center has provided a platform for numerous Afghanistani immigrants who were unable to continue their education in Afghanistan.

According to sources, three of the five teachers who were apprehended have overstayed their visas and are currently detained, while the remaining two have been released. This development comes despite the Pakistani government’s given deadline until November 1st for Afghanistani refugees to leave the country. It is estimated that around 1.7 million Afghanistani refugees currently reside in Pakistan without proper documentation.

It is crucial to recognize that a significant number of young individuals fled Afghanistan and sought refuge in neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan, after the Taliban took control. Experts attribute the migration of the population to factors such as unemployment, poverty, and the prevailing circumstances within the country. International organizations have condemned the Pakistani government’s approach and have urged the country to reconsider its plan of expelling Afghanistani refugees.
