RASC News Agency: Based on reports from various news sources, an imminent polio vaccination campaign is set to commence in several regions across the country.
The Afghanistan Free Polio page recently made an announcement, disclosing that the new polio vaccination campaign is scheduled to commence on Monday, October 23rd, in diverse regions of Afghanistan.

As per the announcement published on the aforementioned page, the campaign will initially launch on Saturday, October 21st, exclusively in the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, and Kunar.

Simultaneously, while the Free Polio page proclaims the initiation of the polio campaign in multiple regions within the country, it is disheartening to note that over five confirmed cases of polio have been recorded since the beginning of this year. The most recent positive case was reported on October 19th in the Jibrail district of Herat province.

Additionally, numerous positive cases of polio have been identified in various districts of Nangarhar province, including Batikot, Kot, Nazian, Behsud, Durbaba, and Khogiani. Afghanistan and Pakistan remain the sole countries worldwide where complete eradication of polio has not been achieved, representing a significant threat to children under the age of five. Polio is a highly contagious disease that can result in permanent paralysis or even death in children.

Furthermore, children, particularly young ones, bear the enduring consequences of the polio virus, with transmission often occurring through contaminated water sources. Nonetheless, it is worth highlighting that the consistent vigilance of numerous families in ensuring their children receive vaccination has had a positive impact in preventing the spread of this debilitating ailment, as recognized by experts.
