RASC News Agency: In a recent statement, the head of the U.S. House Foreign Relations Committee said that the Taliban remains tied to Al-Qaida and that this relationship has never been broken.
On Monday, 2 November, the newsletter of the Foreign Relations committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to a quote by Michael McCall the head of the committee said that the Taliban group is battling with ISIS to keep its internal power, but the link between the “Taliban group and Al-Qaeda” remains.
According to its newsletter, McCall said that if the Taliban were serious about fighting terrorism, rather than providing money, protection, and employment, it would work to eliminate and contain Al-Qaeda.
He further added that the Taliban group is fighting ISIS not based on the Doha Agreement, but in order to maintain its internal authority.
McCall added: “The Taliban group, together with their Al-Qaeda allies, are working to destroy their common enemy, the Khorasan branch of the ISIS group, as part of the internal struggle for power that has been going on since 2014.”
Considering the Taliban group’s relations with terrorist groups, he said that the Biden administration is trying to ignore the “terrorist relations” of the Taliban group.
It should be noted that McCall made these statements while US President Joe Biden announced in a press conference about the suppression of Al-Qaeda with the help of the Taliban group in Afghanistan.
In a separate report a few weeks ago, the UNSCM also noted that the Taliban group “has deepened ties with Al-Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban”.
