RASC News Agency: Imam Ali Rahman, the president of Tajikistan, said at the meeting of the heads of the Central Asian countries that terrorist threats have increased on the borders of Afghanistan.

 

The President of Tajikistan has expressed his concern at the consultative meeting of the heads of the Central Asian countries in the city of “Dushanba” about the increase in terrorist threats originating from the territory of Afghanistan.

 

He has announced a multiple increase in drug production and traffic across the border of Tajikistan.

 

Imam Ali Rahman stated that following the recent developments in Afghanistan, the production of drugs and its transit through the border of Tajikistan has increased significantly.

 

He added that nearly five tons of drugs were seized in 2022, which shows a 22% increase compared to 2021.

 

The president of Tajikistan also said that the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is worsening and in this regard, we are ready to use the facilities of this country to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistani citizens.

 

He also added that according to the cooperation of the Central Asian countries, security factor is the most important condition for the implementation of joint creative projects.

 

It should be mentioned that the President of Tajikistan increased the number of border posts during a visit to the border region of this country with Afghanistan at the end of August this year.

 

According to information from Tajik sources, Tajikistan currently has more than 100 border checkpoints on the border with Afghanistan.

 

Meanwhile, in addition to Tajikistan, a number of other countries in the region have also expressed concern about the existence of terrorist threats from Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group.
