RASC: Following the attack of the Taliban group on the center of Hamisha Bahar Radio and Television in Nangarhar province, the gate of this network was blocked by this group.

The Center of Afghanistan Journalists confirms that after the attack of Taliban forces on a journalism-training course of “Hamisha Bahar” radio and television network in Jalalabad city, the center of Nangarhar province, the office of this network was also locked by the Taliban group.

Atal Khan Stanekzai, the manager of “Hamesha Bahar” radio and television, told the media center that the security forces of the Taliban group fired the employees of this media and closed its gate at around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 1.

Mr. Stanekzai added: “The security forces of the security command told the employees of Hamisha Bahar Radio and TV that the authorities ordered us to block the gate of this network and prevent the continuation of this media’s activity.”

The Center of Afghanistan Journalists also said in a statement that the forces of the Taliban group attacked the local radio and television “Hamisha Bahar” in Nangarhar province due to the participation of girls in the journalism-training course and ordered to stop this training course.

The manager of “Hamisha Bahar” radio and television told the Afghanistan Journalists’ Center that 16 people, including six girls, participated in this training course.

He added: “The forces of the Taliban group, while behaving violently with the employees of Hamisha Bahar Radio and Television and threatening them, said that they are not allowed to hold such a program with the presence of girls, and then ordered the participants to leave as soon as possible.”

The Center of Afghanistan Journalists, while expressing deep concern about the closing of Hamisha Bahar TV and Radio, condemned this action as a violation of the country’s public media law and aimed at intensifying pressure and imposing serious restrictions on free media.

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, they have imposed severe restrictions on the work of the media and journalists and have suppressed, tortured and arrested journalists in many cases.
