RASC: Relatives of Hafizullah Raufi, a local merchant in Jawzjan province, say that the Taliban group shot him and injured his son in front of his family.
One of Raufi’s relatives told the media that the Taliban group attacked the businessman’s house in the “Qazanchi” area of Shaberghan city on Tuesday morning, July 25, and killed him.
He said that the Taliban group asked this businessman about a week ago to bring his brother, who is in one of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, to Jawzjan, but after his brother refused to return to the country, the Taliban group tried to kill this businessman.
Raufi’s relatives say that his brother was an adviser to one of the organizations supporting the elections during the previous government, and Raufi himself was a metal businessperson.
They say that the Taliban group did not allow Raufi’s mother and family members to see his body. According to them, Raufi’s funeral ceremony was held yesterday and his eulogy ceremony was held today.
The relatives of this 42-year-old businessman claim that the Taliban killed his nephew last year.
Abdul Sattar Halimi, the spokesman of the security command of the Taliban group in Jawzjan, denied the involvement of the members of this group in the murder of Hafizullah Rufi and said that he was killed by “unknown armed persons”.
Halimi also said that the investigation is ongoing in order to clarify the motive of the murder and identify its perpetrators.
The Taliban group has been repeatedly accused of extrajudicial killings since retaking Afghanistan.
