The Taliban Group Attacked Hairdressing Salons in Herat Province and Threatened Their Owners

RASC: Local sources in Herat province say that the Taliban group in this province attacked a number of women’s hair salons and threatened the hair stylists.

Sources said on Monday, July 10, that the Taliban group has warned female hairdressers that they will soon close the gate of their hair salon and stop making a living from this business.

According to the sources, when a number of female hairdressers reacted to the statements of the Taliban group about the closing of the hair salons, the fighters of this group broke the mirrors inside their hair salons and threatened to beat them up.

Meanwhile, one of the hairdressers in Herat province confirms that Taliban fighters stormed his barber shop and told him: “After this, you are not allowed to open the bazaar of disbelief and sin.”

She added that the Taliban group warned her that they would beat her if she did not close the gate of the barber shop within a week.

This is despite the fact that the Taliban group has imposed many restrictions on women’s social life after gaining power, and in the latest case of this group, they have ordered the closure of a women’s hair salon starting next month.

Previously, the Taliban group had summoned the family members of a number of women’s hair salon owners in Ghazni.

This action of the Taliban group has resulted in the sharp reactions of the country’s citizens and human rights organizations.

The Ministry of Amr Bil Maruf has said about the blocking of women’s hairdressing salons that the cost was wasteful and that hair transplants and plucking of women’s eyebrows for adornment are “contrary to Sharia”.
