RASC: Local sources in Herat province say that the Amr Bil Maruf members of the Taliban group are harassing women on the roads of Herat city for not wearing the full Islamic hijab.
These sources have told Rask that the agents of the Taliban group have stopped the vehicles carrying women and girls in ” Gulha avenue” and ” Cinema avenue” of Herat city this Thursday afternoon, 18 May.
According to the sources, the so-called Taliban group’s Amr Bil Maruf members have warned these women and girls that they will be arrested if they do not wear the “full Islamic hijab (black veil)”.
According to the sources, the agents of the Taliban group have also warned the drivers of passenger vehicles that they will be investigated if they board passengers without hijab.
This is the second time that the officials of the Taliban group in Herat have harassed women for not observing the “Full Islamic Hijab”.
This is despite the fact that after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan on August 2021, most women and girls in Herat use black tents and Arabic hijabs as their main covering.
