RASC: Based on the report of 8 AM newspaper, women prisoners tortured and sexually assaulted by the Taliban group.

In this report, which was prepared based on interviews with victims, doctors and other sources, it is stated that some of these women succumbed to sexual abuse by the Taliban group under the pressure of torture and harassment.

This report is about the situation of 90 women those arrested and imprisoned in Jawzjan, Faryab and Samangan provinces after the rule of the Taliban group in 2020. It is said that they have been imprisoned on charges of moral corruption, theft, fraud and running away from home.

The narrative of female victims and female doctors from Taliban prisons has shocking details. Health workers in the gynecological-obstetrical department of Faryab, Samangan and Jawzjan hospitals say: “In the past year, the members of the Taliban group referred 48 women to these hospitals for treatment at night, who were bleeding profusely due to physical torture and sexual assault.”

This newspaper adds that the people of the Taliban group did not allow the in charge doctors to arrange the medical files for these women.

Apparently, the local authorities of the Taliban group in these provinces are forcing women prisoners to submit to their sexual demands under pressure and torture.

The officials of the Taliban group did not file a criminal case against these women and kept them in prison. Also, the prisoners’ families have not been allowed to meet them.

Sexual assaults have led to unwanted pregnancies of imprisoned women.

According to one of the doctors: “13 female prisoners, who were pregnant in prison after being raped by the Taliban group, were transferred to the gynecology-obstetrics department of this hospital at night for abortion.”

According to him, most of these women had abortions in the first three months of pregnancy and taken to prison again.

The newspaper quoted the victims as saying that some of these women could be released from the prison of the Taliban group in exchange for money.
