Taliban’s Financial Support for Suicide Bomber Families: Wartime Priorities Amid Economic Crisis

RASC News Agency: Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, has announced that the group has allocated 12 billion kabuli rupees to the families of its suicide bombers. This sum, equivalent to the annual budget of three government ministries, will be distributed through the Taliban’s Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, with the aim of supporting the women and children of the suicide attackers’ families. In an interview with the Taliban-controlled national television, Mujahid explained that this move reflects the group’s commitment to the welfare of the families of its fighters. He emphasized that the decision is part of the broader effort to assist the survivors of those who have carried out suicide attacks. He further described Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, as a “prize” for Afghanistan, claiming that the country will never see another leader like him.

While the Taliban announces the allocation of billions to the families of suicide bombers, Afghanistan’s economic situation remains precarious. Reports indicate that government employees under the Taliban have not received their salaries for the past three months, leaving many workers without pay. This glaring discrepancy between the Taliban’s financial priorities and the country’s ongoing economic struggles has fueled increasing discontent among the Afghanistani population.

At present, Afghanistan faces complex economic and security challenges. The Taliban’s continued focus on funding for the families of their fighters, while neglecting basic public needs such as government salaries, has only worsened these issues.
