RASC News Agency: Mirwais Azizi, the founder of Azizi Bank, has unveiled plans to establish a world-class cancer hospital in Kabul, with an estimated investment of $500 million. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, February 20, Azizi announced that the hospital would be constructed on 350 acres of land in Kabul and would bear the name “Fereshtah” in honor of his daughter. The hospital is set to feature advanced oncology units, maternity and gynecology wards, an orphanage, a nursing institute, and a fully integrated medical complex. Azizi emphasized that the facility would serve the Afghanistani people, operating as a fully non-profit institution dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services.
He further noted that the hospital would be equipped with modern medical technology and residential facilities, ensuring comprehensive patient care.cDespite his past commitments to multi-million-dollar investments in Afghanistan, many of these projects have yet to materialize. Azizi also provided updates on his long-anticipated solar power generation initiative, revealing that the first phase of the project is scheduled for completion within the next eight months, with an expected energy output of 200 megawatts. As one of Afghanistan’s most prominent business figures, Azizi has played a pivotal role in various industries. Last year, his Azizi Foundation announced an ambitious $10 billion investment in Afghanistan’s energy sector, signaling a major economic commitment.
However, his financial dealings have drawn scrutiny, with speculation that he maintains ties to the Taliban and has allegedly provided financial support to the regime. While Azizi has never publicly endorsed the Taliban, he has been observed in meetings with the group’s leadership, fueling further debate over his political affiliations.
