RASC News Agency: The Pakistani government has urged Western nations to accelerate the processing of Afghanistani refugee cases, warning that failure to act swiftly could result in mass deportations. According to Arab News, Pakistani officials cautioned on Tuesday, February 4, that refugees awaiting resettlement risk expulsion if their migration cases remain unresolved. Islamabad has explicitly threatened to deport Afghanistani refugees whose host countries have yet to determine their fate. This is not the first time Pakistan has called for an expedited relocation process; the government has repeatedly pressed Western nations to facilitate the swift transfer of Afghanistani migrants.
Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities have intensified the forced deportation of Afghanistani refugees in recent weeks, raising alarm among human rights organizations. At the same time, numerous Afghanistani asylum seekers in Pakistan, awaiting relocation to Western countries, have voiced grave concerns over the looming threat of forced deportation, even though they possess valid residency documents. Many claim that Pakistani law enforcement is targeting and expelling migrants despite their legal status, deepening their sense of insecurity. Since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, tens of thousands of Afghanistani refugees have fled to Pakistan, hoping to secure resettlement in the West.
However, many remain stranded, particularly those awaiting transfer to European countries. Frustration is mounting as they accuse foreign embassies of operating in an inefficient and arbitrary manner. While some have languished in Pakistan for more than two years without any progress on their cases, others have been relocated within mere months, fueling accusations of systemic injustice in the resettlement process.
