RASC News Agency: Local sources in Badghis report that a violent confrontation between two ethnic groups has left 15 individuals injured. According to the sources, the clash erupted over the distribution of humanitarian aid, resulting in injuries among residents, particularly from the two communities involved. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, January 21, in the Tagab Alam district of Badghis. A source disclosed that the confrontation was between the “Bai” and “Taimani” tribes, triggered by the distribution of food supplies by a humanitarian organization.
The Taliban authorities in Badghis have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. This is not an isolated event, as previous aid distributions in Badghis have also sparked similar disputes, leading to injuries among residents. Elsewhere, humanitarian aid distribution has frequently ignited physical altercations. Last month, in Faryab province, a violent clash over aid distribution left two individuals severely injured, both of whom required hospitalization.
Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, poverty and unemployment have surged to unprecedented levels, forcing a significant portion of the population to rely on humanitarian assistance. However, repeated reports suggest that the Taliban have misappropriated aid, diverting it for personal gain or distributing it exclusively to their members and affiliates. These actions have further exacerbated the suffering of ordinary Afghanistanis, leaving the most vulnerable without critical support.
