RASC News Agency: The spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged the global community to stand by the Afghanistani people instead of leaving them in isolation during their time of crisis. In a statement released on Monday, January 20, Shafqat Ali Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting ongoing humanitarian aid for Afghanistan. He stressed that ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan must remain a top priority for the international community.
The Pakistani official has previously emphasized the importance of global solidarity with the Afghanistani people, calling on the world to step up efforts to support them. Shafqat Ali Khan praised Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, for his dedication to highlighting Afghanistan’s humanitarian challenges. He underscored the critical need for humanitarian assistance, stating that it remains vital for Afghanistan to navigate its current hardships.
“Afghanistan cannot overcome this difficult phase without substantial global and humanitarian aid,” he remarked. The spokesperson further noted, “It would have been more appropriate if the world had not abandoned the Afghanistani people after the war but instead worked to establish favorable socio-economic conditions within Afghanistan, enabling its citizens to thrive.” Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan shows no signs of abating, stressing the urgent need for increased and immediate aid.
Previously, Pakistan had called for enhanced humanitarian support for Afghanistani citizens. Meanwhile, Afghanistani residents have repeatedly alleged that humanitarian aid has been mismanaged by the Taliban or distributed exclusively among their affiliates, exacerbating public discontent and deepening mistrust toward the group.
