Save the Children Declares 2024 the Cruelest Year for Afghanistani Children

RASC News Agency: Save the Children has labeled 2024 as an extraordinarily “cruel” year for Afghanistani children, citing severe economic crises, persistent droughts, and successive floods that have drastically impacted their lives. On Friday, December 13, the organization released a video on X, calling for urgent international support to address the worsening plight of Afghanistani children. The organization highlighted: “Economic collapse, droughts, and relentless floods have left children in critical nutritional conditions.” The video appeals: “Help us restore hope to Afghanistan’s children.” Reports from international organizations further emphasize that, beyond these challenges, Afghanistani children face indoctrination in Taliban-controlled schools, deepening their suffering.

This announcement follows a recent United Nations report, which, despite noting reduced armed conflicts, revealed that children in Afghanistan remain exceptionally vulnerable. Since the Taliban’s resurgence, one-third of Afghanistani children have been forced into labor. Worsening poverty and hunger have compelled families to depend on their children for survival. The Taliban’s administration has shown no genuine concern for the rights or welfare of children, exploiting them instead as tools for military objectives, suicide missions, and extremist propaganda.

Over the past three decades, the Taliban has funneled thousands of children into religious schools, where they have been systematically trained for use in bombings, suicide attacks, and other acts of violence. This deliberate exploitation underscores the perilous state of Afghanistani children under a regime driven by repression and extremist ideologies.
