RASC News Agency: Sources in Ghazni report that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, recently visited the province to distribute cash payments to the families of suicide bombers who carried out attacks for the group. On Sunday, December 1, sources confirmed that Haqqani attended a ceremony in Gilan District to commemorate individuals who conducted suicide missions during the Taliban’s insurgency against the previous government.
According to reports, 59 individuals from Gilan District launched suicide attacks against the former Afghanistani security forces. Speaking at the event, Haqqani urged attendees to remember these attackers “with honor and reverence.” Haqqani, known for orchestrating and overseeing suicide bombing operations, has been a key figure in the Taliban’s deadly campaigns. Over the past three decades, the Taliban have killed thousands of Afghanistani citizens through suicide and explosive attacks, leaving millions injured and displaced. The group, which previously claimed it could not engage the former government forces in conventional warfare, relied heavily on these devastating tactics.
In their three years of rule, the Taliban have institutionalized the use of suicide attacks as part of their strategic framework. They have now established specialized “suicide brigades,” focused on recruiting, training, and equipping young individuals for future operations. Experts warn that Afghanistan may become the global epicenter of suicide terrorism within the next decade if these trends continue. Neighboring countries are likely to face escalating threats as Afghanistan’s instability radiates outward, potentially making it one of the most dangerous nations in the world.
