RASC News Agency: Reports from Panjshir reveal that the Taliban have issued directives requiring residents in certain villages to seek permission before hosting weddings or celebratory events. Sources indicate that the Taliban have also prohibited the discharge of firearms or the carrying of any weaponry during wedding ceremonies. Speaking to RASC today Wednesday November 27, a local source disclosed, “The Taliban have instructed residents in several villages of the Parian district in Panjshir to refrain from organizing weddings or celebrations without first securing their approval. They have warned that failure to comply will result in arrests.”
The source further claimed that the Taliban have demanded invitations to such events, insisting on their presence as a condition for holding the gatherings. This is not the first time the Taliban have imposed such restrictions. Similar warnings have previously been issued to residents in various villages across Panjshir, barring them from organizing celebratory events without the group’s explicit consent. Since seizing control of Panjshir, the Taliban have enforced stringent measures that heavily restrict the daily lives of its residents. Moreover, the group has reportedly arrested hundreds of individuals from the province on questionable grounds.
Residents of Panjshir allege that the Taliban have arbitrarily detained countless young men, targeting them solely for their Panjshiri identity. According to some locals, hundreds of individuals from the region have been imprisoned for months without any evidence of wrongdoing. Since reclaiming power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have carried out widespread and arbitrary detentions of citizens across the country, often subjecting them to imprisonment and torture under vague and unsubstantiated accusations.
