RASC News Agency: Behnam Nazari, the Deputy for Political, Security, and Social Affairs in Iran’s Central Province, has disclosed that around 250 Afghanistani migrants are apprehended daily in this region. According to Nazari, these individuals are sent to the Ebrahimabad camp in Arak, and if they do not possess valid identification, they are promptly deported from the country. Speaking to IRNA on Sunday, October 13, Nazari explained: “Migrants identified and arrested in the Central Province are temporarily held in the Ebrahimabad camp for 24 hours until their identity documents are verified. If they lack proper identification, they are deported.” He further noted that biometric data, including fingerprints, facial recognition, and iris scans, are now systematically recorded for all detained Afghanistani nationals.
Nazari added: “Previously, when migrants were deported, their biometric data were not consistently documented. However, now, biometric information is registered at both the origin and destination camps, ensuring thorough identification through fingerprints, facial features, and iris recognition.” He also emphasized that the identification, arrest, and expulsion of Afghanistani migrants is a continuous and prioritized operation in the Central Province. Currently, about 60,000 Afghanistani nationals reside in the province legally with electronic identification cards, while it is estimated that between 10,000 to 12,000 undocumented migrants live in the region without proper identification.
The Islamic Republic has recently escalated its campaign against Afghanistani migrants, forcibly deporting hundreds of them back to Afghanistan each day. Disturbingly, reports indicate that some of those expelled, including individuals with valid visas, have faced arrest and execution by the Taliban upon their return.
