RASC News Agency: Local sources in Parwan have reported the continued removal of tanks and armored vehicles left by the Soviet Red Army from the Pushta-Sorkh region of Jabul al-Saraj. These sources indicate that the Taliban are discreetly transporting these military assets under the cover of night, using freight trucks to move them to undisclosed locations.
On Saturday, October 5, sources revealed that the Taliban claim these vehicles are being moved to Kabul under the pretext of repair, only to be sold thereafter. Reports suggest that more than half of the tanks in Pushta-Sorkh have already been sold. Last year, similar operations were carried out by the Taliban, but were halted following public backlash.
Nearly 18 years ago, Afghanistan’s former Ministry of Information and Culture had designated the Pushta-Sorkh area in Jabal al-Saraj, home to hundreds of military vehicles from the Soviet era, as the “National Museum of Jihad and Resistance of the Afghanistani People.” According to a source, quoting a Taliban official, the group has declared that “jihad and warfare belong to us, and there is no need to preserve remnants of past victories in these areas.” It is important to note that the Taliban, driven by extreme ethnic and linguistic biases, often refuse to recognize the Muslim identity of other ethnic groups beyond their own.
