RASC News Agency: According to reports, Afghanistani migrants in Turkey claimed that the police, under the promise of issuing residence cards to undocumented migrants, detained hundreds. One migrant stated that after gathering in front of the Istanbul Civil Registry office, the doors were shut, and around 500 individuals, including families and children, were arrested and handcuffed.
The Turkish police arrested these individuals two days ago, transferring them to migrant camps. The Turkish authorities have yet to comment on the incident. In a video circulating online, the detained migrants are seen under police custody, with no permission to leave. Another migrant revealed that among the detained Afghanistanis, over 50 families with children are present.
Afghanistani migrants in Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan face severe challenges, including mass detentions, residency restrictions, and forced deportations. Last year, Turkish police arrested several young Afghanistani migrants, subjected them to cruel treatment, stripped them, and released dogs on them. Similarly, media reports from last year indicated that Turkish police cut the tendons of dozens of young Afghanistani men to prevent them from walking.
It is important to note that many Afghanistanis flee their country due to violence, oppression, and unemployment, only to face further oppression and cruelty in foreign lands.
