RASC News Agency: The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency has reported the forced or voluntary deportation of 100 Afghanistani migrant families from Iran and Pakistan. These families returned through border crossings in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimroz, and Herat provinces.
According to the report, 33 families entered via the Torkham crossing, and 31 through Spin Boldak. Additionally, 20 families crossed through the Pul-e-Abrisham border, while 16 returned via Islam Qala. Some returnees from Pakistan alleged that the police confiscated their belongings before expelling them empty-handed.
The UNHCR’s statistics reveal that since August 2021, millions of Afghanistani citizens have fled to Pakistan and Iran due to the Taliban’s takeover. Iranian authorities have proposed new measures for handling Afghanistani migrants. Mojtaba Abdollahi, the governor of Alborz, recently stated that over 50,000 Afghanistani migrants were expelled from this region alone in the past year.
This large-scale deportation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Afghanistani migrants who fled Taliban rule in search of safety. Many find themselves caught in a difficult situation as neighboring countries tighten immigration policies.
